Dear AOSA members,
It is with great sadness that the American Orff-Schulwerk Association announces on behalf of the management and trustees of the Carl Orff Foundation the passing of Liselotte Orff (nee Schmitz) on Wednesday, September 19, shortly after her 82nd birthday.

Frau Orff was married to Carl Orff from 1960 to 1982. Upon his death, she was named chairperson of the Carl Orff Foundation, a position she held until 2010 when she became honorary chairperson. Throughout her life, she was committed to preserving the works of Carl Orff, promoting his compositions and Orff Schulwerk around the world. In 2010, she was awarded the Golden Ring of Honor by the municipality of Dießen,Germany, and in 2011, she received the Bavarian Order of Merit from Prime Minister Horst Seehofer.
Frau Orff was a long-time supporter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association providing scholarships for AOSA conference participation to select German and Austrian musicians and educators and providing financial support for various AOSA programs and activities.
Please refer to the AOSA website for updated information regarding arrangements and memorial opportunities as they are pending at this time.
Sincerely,
Karen Benson
AOSA President
