Music teachers from Grand Ledge have been teaching for many years and have a variety of music backgrounds which include Orff, Kodaly, ETM and MLT. With these backgrounds in mind, they wrote a curriculum that encompasses parts of many music philosophies to be used in their school system. They will share activities and how they are a learning community despite being at different schools and various musical backgrounds.
Karen Huber Salvador is a Doctoral Student at MSU. Karen taught music at Eaton Rapids Schools for four years and spent two years in New Zealand teaching choir and drama in after-school programs and singing professionally. She was a member of Mid Michigan Orff. She has her master's degree in choral conducting from MSU and is a current PhD student in music at MSU. She is passionate about vocal health and great teaching.



Don and Brian teach elementary music in Chappaqua, New York and are both Professors at Hofstra University in Hempstead, Long Island. They received their Orff Schulwerk training at Hofstra University and completed the Master Class in Orff Schulwerk at Memphis State University. They are both levels instructors at various Orff Schulwerk chapters throughout the country.
Imitation, Exploration, Literacy and Improvisation are the building blocks with which students acquire musical skills and concepts. These learning stages weave together to develop knowledge and musicianship. This workshop will provide many thoughtful and engaging lessons and activities which will enhance your curricular goals while promoting student musical understanding and expression.

Bonnie earned her Bachelor of Music Ed degree from Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio and her Master of Music from University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. Currently, she is a music specialist in the Simsbury Public Schools teaching grades K-6. She did her three levels of Orff training with Nancy Ferguson, Jos Wuytuck, and Grace Nash. She has been president of the following AOSA chapters; the Greater Milwaukee, Mid-Michigan chapters, and the founding chapter president in Utah.
She will share activities and pedagogy that you can use in your classroom that have been successful for her students.
